Birthday .. Orissa Trip and more

My birthday on 2nd august was on the same day, when we had to attend a colleagues wedding. And since the wedding ceremony was in Bhubaneshwar (Orissa), my birthday was celebrated in style along with some of my best friends.
In all, 30, 31 july and 1,2,3 august were spent in fun company, as we enjoyed,
36 hour train journey covering 3 states.
visit to Jagannath Puri temple and Konark Sun temple.
visit to chilika lake and its irrawady dolphins.
Playing in the strong waves of east coast of India, or simple Puri Beach, also called Puri sea face.
Eating chinese food from a famous chinese eatery of Puri.
staying in 3-star hotels.
visiting the creatures housed at Nandankanan Zoo.
and a 2 hour airplane flight (my first one!) from bhubaneshwar to mumbai.
All along enjoying the beauty of the surroundings and the hospitality towards us.
The food was good too, not yoghurt splattered stuff from north india.
And it felt blessed to have a good breakfast of puri-bhaji everyday. Loved it.
Not forgetting the delicious sweets of bhubaneshwar. Already I am in love with Orissa, so much that I would not mind falling in love with a Oriya girl.
Ok, enough of fantasies.
Thats all for now, as I come back to routine of life. Still I will make sure to never make the routine boring. Spice it up, whenever I can.

Adventures and many more things!

Lots of things missing, so lets make it fast.
11-12 July 2009 were spent in enjoying the scenic environs of matheran.
Highlight of the whole trip was "Valley Crossing". As you can see below, it was adrenaline rushing fun activity.



As opposed to last time, we walked down from matheran to neral station, which is a 2-3 hours hike. It really was a good way to conclude the trip. The view is lush green, and one can see the meandering narrow gauge rail track playing hide and seek.
On the hill, like last time we were not able to see half the points, because of paucity of time. We just watched the usual points like, Echo Point, Lord Point, Charlotte Lake, and Washed-Out-Trail Point. I still haven't seen One-Tree Hill, Panaroma Point, among others. So better luck next time.

After that, the week has been pretty mundane, save for my PC monitor malfunctioning, and requiring 600 rupees to fix it. So...

More things soon, and more regularly.

Finally

Finally I can blog from home, as I have summoned my PC from the dead.
"Summon Complete" (a dialogue from the game Warcraft 3)
Somehow, the SMPS of my PC malfunctioned, tripping the phase switches, but replacing it with a new one(Rs. 450/-), brought it to life.
With the addition of a 250MB ddr2 RAM card, a gift from mahendra bhatt (thanks a lot), my good 'ol PC runs faster now.

I watched Kambakt Ishq.
Nothing to write about it, as it lackluster.
Akshay Kumar is great as ever, and Slyvester Stallone and "hottie" Dennis Richards are definite addons!!
Still the movie is very average, some funny moments aside.
Akshay Kumar is very talented, so I expect something better than this from him.
He is my second favourite bollywood star after Shah Rukh Khan.

I still remember.

I still remember.
Even though it was just last saturday that I went to Worli Seaface with Tasha (one of my greatest friends!), the experience makes me want to go there again.
So I still remember the rains lashing our faces, jumping in puddles, being all "WET", coaxing the waves to come higher up the seaface, and talking. Beautiful.
Of course, the fact the Bandra-Worli sealink not being lighted up meant, we missed a spectacular view, but that did not deter motorists from driving on the massive sealink.
And this visits marks my first visit to Worli Seaface, a shame considering I live so close to the city.
The truth is, I have seen more places outside Mumbai, than inside it.
I guess nobody guided me earlier, but now slowly I am exploring it, with some help of course.

Terminator Salvation : movie review (brief)

I watched Terminator Salvation(T-4). Being a fan of the franchise, I loved it. Its better than T-3(RoTM), but whether its better than T-2 is debatable.
Surely in terms of effects/cinematography it is peerless, with only the Transformers 2 having  the capacity to do better.
Action movie fans shouldn't miss it, and its really a treat to watch it on big screen. Acting has been solid, but not necessarily exceptional, its not something that would hinder your viewing experience.
This movie is a typical blockbuster, and it makes me want to watch the next episode.
 Its got gadgets, robots, androids, crazy fight scenes, big blasts, and lots of fun.
One-liners are scarce, but that is fine.
Watch It! (p.s.- it has arnie!!!... kind of!!!... go figure!!!)

Rains are playing hide and seek, and thats why no consistent rainfall. So its not much fun to stand under umbrella and eat coal heated corn cobs, sprinkled with salt and masala.

Month of july is full of blockbuster movies, and I will have to save a lot of cash to be able to watch all of them. But I am going to make sure that I don't miss; Terminator 4, Transformers 2, and Harry Potter 6, simply for the reason that these movies are more fun to watch on big screen than on television. So lets see if I am able to watch all the three movies.

My dislike for these terrorists continues to grow, these so called rebels in the grab of maoist fighting for peasant rights just kill people. A revolution that started with good intentions (Naxalbari) has turned into a violent war, where I don't see peasants benefitting. So lets hope this situation is resolved in a more peaceful manner, however unlikely.

Maybe it is the adrenaline rush. But when I run to catch a train, I love it, more so at Thane station. Usually when I see for afar CST train approaching, I start sprint towards platform no.4 or 6. The rush that one gets after catching the train is a welcome change from the boring routine of a working guy. It cannot replace the exciting  adventure sports like sky-diving, but are a cheap and safe substitute. With rains making it difficult for me to ride my bike to office, I cannot get a high that comes with riding a bike, as I have to use public transport. The biggest reason for not riding my bike in rain is that, when it rains I can't keep the visor of helmet down, as visibility is low due to splashing rain drops. And if I keep the visor up, my spectacles will get splashed, so again reducing visibility. To add to my troubles the fear of skidding is always present. And there is the worse case scenario of flooding. If I am stuck somewhere, I can find my way out by walking/climbing etc., but if I am stuck with my bike it complicates things. So together with these all problems and the fear of bike suddenly refusing to start, I avoid riding to work in rainy season.
