quickie

Its mid-week, and the pain is slowly subsiding.
No, I was not feeling pain of break-up. It was the pain of watching Arsenal loose to a good Manchester United team.
I am not a ManU fan, but I can never deny that they are a very talented team.
Yes, C.Ronaldo is a cry-baby but he is a skilled player. And the way Arsenal handled him, we deserved to lose.
Still I think this team has done quite well, considering the players in this team, their performances have been good not great.
Problem is only when you consider the history of Arsenal as a club that current performances are clearly under-par.
Everyone is expecting Arsene Wenger to get more quality players into the team, especially the defence. But I don't think we are getting to sign more than one or two players. Lets hope we don't sign players like Sylvester.

This tiff between movie makers and movie distributors has made me feel like a man without food and water in desert. Every week their fight goes on, I miss out on at least one good movie. And that is not a good thing.

Anybody can do well at something he loves -- it's just a question of finding the subject."

So........

So many days have gone by and not many things have happened.
I have been sporting a clean shaven face since last week. Now this may not be an important fact, but it is quite interesting as last time I had a clean shave was way back in September. Not that I had not shaven since then, but never a clean shave. I only trimmed my beard, as I had been sporting a goatee/french beard variation. And by variation I mean ranging from modern french beard to the more retro handlebar beard (what a good friend calls biker look).
But I was tired of that look and wanted a change, and I have one, not really that cool, but a change it is. I have no idea how long I will be shaving everyday to maintain my look.

I tried the new fizz drink from ParleAgro, "Grappo Fizz". I liked it, it has nice taste, and nothing is overdone, be it the fizz or the grapes. Question remains if it can be gulped down in large quantities in one go, like many fizz drinks. And surely I am not going to find it out. Try it out! Its good.

Saw this movie, "30 days of night" a vampire movie, but not your typical one. Its very good, not perfect of course. But its better than many vampire movies I have seen. Still it can't compete with the Blade series, and anyway their basic permises are different. Now only "Underworld" is still unseen. hmmmm...

Need to stop now, have to go out and have some food. Adios! for now :)

p.s. I am contemplating another failed attempt to grow my hair(long) ...

Danny The Dog.....and other things

I am a big fan of Jet-Li. I try to make sure I never miss any of his movies.
He is a very good actor and no doubt about his amazing martial arts skills.
Just yesterday I saw his movie: Danny The Dog.
A very good movie, and a very underestimated one indeed. It so good that I think I won't mind watching it more than once. And to top it all, the movie has Morgan Freeman in it, doing what he does best. Still this movie is all about Jet-Li doing a role I have never seen him do in another movie. Yes, he did act in somewhat similar manner in a few scenes of his Chinese flick (Tai-Chi Master). But that was only a small part in a different way, this was more wholesome. Do watch it, if you don't mind little bit of fighting, as it has got soul.
Another weekend coming to an end, with two back to back posts. wow!
A quick mention: I am a big fan of rose flavored peppermint pellets called ColdStar. They are sold mostly at Mumbai railways station food stalls. They are manufactured by Volga Confectionary, Bombay 11. For those who still don't remember them, they are small pellets packed in an pen-drive sized packing. They are also available in the standard flavor(peppermint) or the one I like rose-flavored.
Thats all for now. Take care!

My first post through mail

Blogger has provided this facility with which I can blog from my mail.
Yesterday in FA Cup Semi-final Arsenal deserved to loose against Chelsea.
I don't know why we did not play Song/Arshavin and also why were Persie/Fabregas quiet in terms of performance.
Anyway, no point in crying over what is a lost game and Cup.
In F1, Force India drivers did not get a single point, again. At least they completed the race.
It was second sunday of yoga sessions. And slowly I can feel that I can sustain "Vajrasana" posture longer than I was able to do earlier, still sooner or later pain does set in. Still, "Padmasana" posture is proving to be relatively pain free. (p.s. pain is only in the "extensor digitorium"). I will need a lot of practice to master these initial exercises as its been a long time since I practiced yoga.
I have an opinion that the T-shirt range at "Loot" (which is a clothing store) is not that cool and most of it is overpriced. Even though they sell branded clothes, the range offered at "Lifestyle" (another clothing store) is better. Note that this opinion is based on comparing "Loot" store of Thane and "Lifestyle" store of Mulund. But "Loot" seemed better than "Shopper Stop" who had crappy range. So, only "Globus" can compete with "Lifestyle" in terms of quality, variety and style.
It clearly looks like I have managed to type a lot, even though I had not planned to type all this. I guess sometimes things just flow out.
Take care people. I will be back. Adios!

so little time

So many things going on
and so little time.
Went on a one day trip to Ganpatipule.
In shot the trip was great.
Good Temple
Good Beach
Good Museum Of Konkan History
In all a fun trip!!
Lots of work in office, but enjoying every bit of it.
And I just completed one session of a 3 month long Yoga Class.
Its a sunday-to-sunday deal, for basic yoga.
I have practiced Yoga for three years in School, but after that not much.
One can of course continue the course for two years, to move on to even advanced stages.
So, lets see.
Jenish has got me addicted (nearly!) to this new game on Facebook, called Mafia Wars.
Summer in Mumbai is full-on , which I don't mind too much. But surely in last two weeks of May I am going to get restless for monsoon to arrive. So that I can get myself drenched!!
That's all for now!!!

Watchmen : Movie Review

They said this movie couldn't be made, it was said that no one would be able to adapt Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ comic book to silver screen.
But Zack Snyder made it happen.
The film is set in an alternative 1985 where Nixon is in his fifth term as president, and superheroes are as common as celebrities.
But due to the Keene Act of 1977, superheroes are outlawed and illegal, except [Edward Blake/The Comedian] and [Jon Osterman/Dr. Manhatten] who work for government.
The Comedian is beaten to pulp by hooded man and is tossed out of a window. Rorschach(spelled Roar-Shock) who is ex-vigilante (played byJackie Earle Haley) decides to investigate the murder of Edward Blake. He suspects someone is killing off costumed heroes.
Thus begins the tale full of deception, rape, violence, one-liners,and saving the world.
The alternative New York depicted in this movie captures the visual look depicted in the comics.
And as many fans of this comic series have said, this movie captures some shots so well that they seem straight out of the comics. And more importantly the characters from the original comics have also been retained as it is.
And if you loved the character of The Joker by Heath Ledger, who deserved the Oscar, then you will love even more, Jackie Earle Haley who essayed the role of Rorschach. A die-hard Watchmen Comic series fan proclaimed "Every line he utters and every action he performs embodies Walter Kovacs". A class act indeed.
Jeffery Dean Morgan as The comedian showed his star power. He is shown as a wise-cracking badass but nothing is overdone.
Billy Crudup as Dr. Manhattan was just perfect. It seems as if nobody else could do it.
And his so called partner Nite Owl II/Dan Dreiberg, is played by Patrick Wilson, a man who seems born for this role.He seems to me as the only “true” hero something like Bruce Wayne.
Dr. Manhattan doesn’t care too much anyone, and so mostly his expression is that of attentive boredom, which seem correct. Crudup clearly understood the difference between Jon Osterman and Dr. Manhattan - which is why we is why we feel sensitivity towards him.
And lets talk about the remainging two characters Matthew Goode [Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias] and Malin Akerman [Laurie Juspeczyk/Silk Spectre II]. Veidt did a good job, but lacked something I can't place my finger on, still it was on a par with the others.
Malin Akerman as (Laurie Juspeczyk/Silk Spectre II) is a different animal altogether. She seems the weakest of the bunch. She’s not bad, but she’s sort of unimposing. Still she looks the part and gets better as the film goes on. And her mother's role is played by Carla Gugino, who is Sally Jupiter/Silk Spectre I. She has done an astounding job as she has portrayed a believable sexuality and pin-up lifestyle.
So, it all seems perfect, well nearly.
First of all what goes against this movie, is that it is not a household comic book name, like Batman is. So not many people are interested to watch it.
And this movie being an adult movie, kids are off the list.
And since the characters are not known it requires concentration to deduce who is who. Of course the credits roll did a good job, having background info helps.
And for a movie which is longer than typical hollywood movies, this movie is well paced and doesn't slack at all.
Still at times it feels some scenes could have been extended.
All in all an action packed movie, with dark flourishes that transport you to an alternate reality. Miss it, if you want, but this is surely going to be a cult classic.
And I am waiting to lay my hands on its Director's Cut version. Oh Yes! I want to watch it again!

I have successfully completed my post-graduate degree program

Yes, I have successfully completed MCA.
MCA stands for Masters in Computer Applications, its a post graduate degree offered by Sikkim Manipal University which I completed through their distance learning facility. MCA degree follows my graduation degree in Computer Science from Mumbai University.
This doesn't mean I am going to stop studying, I will continue it as long as it is financially viable. But right now I am not sure if my furthur education should continue in the field of technology or should it branch out into management. That is some food for thought.
And I finally saw the movie "Ocean's 13" and "Michael Clayton", both starring George Clooney, and both satisfyingly entertaining movies, albiet of different genre's.
I haven't shaved for a week or so, and this vegetation on my face needs to be trimmed, or else I will start looking like Tom Hanks from the movie "Cast Away".
Adios for now~

not easy

I have started to perform the proverbial task of "moving on" which is not the easiest thing to do for someone who is known to be a bit over-emotional with the matter of love. But that does not mean I cannot write poems about it. And the reason is, I should be let it flow out, and get over with it, instead of bundling the thoughts inside me, and then explode. But you need not worry, its just a matter of time, that I would get back to my cheerful best, not that I am sad anymore.
Yesterday Arsenal won 3-1 against Newcastle, now fingers crossed for Liverpool to beat Aston Villa.
In cricket India won a test match, which is good news.
I spent 300 rupees to fix my cellphone problem. Keypad of my cellphone had gone haywire, reason being that I had dropped it in a tub of water. Though I had dried it out, it damaged something inside, and after two months that "something" gave me problems so I had to spend money to fix it. So now my cellphone is in better condition, and I will strive to keep it that way.
Nowadays my bicycle is in ride able condition, which is really good for me, because cycling helps keep my body and mind in a healthy state, only effort that I have to make is to avoid heavy traffic roads to save me from pollution problems. I am not much fan of pop music, but I do like a few songs by Dido and K.T. Tunstall. And I also miss songs by "The Doors", so will add them to my cellphone playlist for the week.

I can write poems again!!!!!!...yeah!!!!

JUST ANOTHER POEM

I want to forget you!
coz i love you!
I want to forget you!
coz you don't love me!

how can i get you out of my mind
if i think about u all the time
no choice but to ignore you
think that in my life there is no you

but when i do such things
it aches from within
aches all the time pain
my heart aches for you

but is there point in it
u don't want to be with me
u just want me to move on
but its not easy coz i loved you
